Jetdrop Blog Launch Today

Today we launch the Jetdrop blog for our gadget community! Similar to our Ningin blog, the Jetdrop blog is dedicated to providing commentary on happenings within the Jetdrop community and other news related of interest to Gadget enthusiasts. Jim Frost of frostbytes.com is the first writer to join our gadget blogging team (see photo). He is a long time technophile that’s a software programmer by day, a shutterbug by night, and a cyclist on the weekends. Anything that sounds cool to a geek, Jim will write about. More details about Jim can be found on his personal blog.

Don’t forget to subscribe to the Jetdrop blog RSS feed and add Jim to your friend’s list so you can keep track of his activities.

Milestone Moment: First Blog Network Launch—Ningin

Today is a milestone moment for us. We’re launching our first blog in our blog network, the Ningin Blog, which is dedicated to providing commentary on happenings within the Ningin community and other news related to Asian Media. The first blogger to join our network is the extremely active entrepreneur, Alvin Lin, who also founded the Facebook group, “Asians Not Brainwashed by Media”. He has an immense passion for Asian American entertainment and is concerned with the negative portrayal of Asians in mainstream media. More details about Alvin and his blog focus can be found on his personal blog.

Alvin will be joined by several other bloggers in the coming weeks to give you a very complete coverage of all things Asian related. Please give him a warm welcome by commenting his posts and adding him to your friends list.

Also, the Jetdrop blog will follow with its launch sometime in the new few days.

Auto Submits

Auto Submit is a new feature in our social news application that scans the RSS feeds of websites with content relevant to each of our communities. Our editors and moderators then filters the articles and content from all those feeds before submitting them to the backpage. Once there users can read, star, favorite, and discuss. Basically, this feature removes a lot of the manual labor involved in item submissions.

Users can still submit articles and we plan to incorporate many new features to make this process easier in the near future. There will be a two day lag for users to submit content before articles and other items are placed in the Auto Submit queue. The Auto Submit feature is more of a catch all than a replacement for user submissions.

Webmasters, publishers, and bloggers who want to add their site to our Auto Submit feed list can do so via this form.

Ziggytek New Logo

I think one of the hardest things in the creation of new sites is the creation of the site logo. Everyone has a different opinion and it just consistently seems like the last thing to get finalized. So after various incarnations, here it is!
